Very informative book

This book walks the user through different steps in detail. It begins with making sure the user turns the computer on, all the was through asking to repeat the steps all over again. The only thing about this book that I think it needs improvement is that it lacks colored illustrations and unless the user is holding the book open or has an object to keep it open, the text is hard to refer to and try to follow the steps while on the computer.

I had to get this for a college networking class. The labs are straightforward and easy to understand. All the pages are perforated and easy to tear out for in-class submissions. Despite the book being large and thick, it is actually very light in weight which is a good thing.

SO EXTREMELY NECESSARY

EVERYONE WHO LOVES TO CORRESPOND AND SOUND INTELLIGENT AND WELL EDUCATED NEEDS BOOKS SUCH AS THESE. I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE ABILITY TO ARTICULATE MYSELF INTO GOOD JOBS AND HAVING A FEW ARTICLES PUBLISHED BUT AM NOT A PAID AUTHOR. IT IS SAID THAT EVERYONE HAS A NOVEL BURIED DEEP INSIDE THEM SOMEWHERE BUT I HAVE YET TO HAVE IT COME TO FRUITION...HOPEFULLY ONE DAY. ANYWAY, I HAVE A DICTIONARY, DICTIONARY OF HOMONYMS, AND DICTIONARY OF SYNONYMS AND ANTONYMS. IT MAKES ME FEEL SO SAD WHEN I READ, OR TRY TO READ, WHAT THE YOUNGER GENERATION HAS DONE OR IS DOING TO THE WRITTEN WORD. THESE POOR CHILDREN CANNOT READ NOR WRITE WHEN THEY GRADUATE. IT IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO ME...THEY HAVE MISSED SO MUCH. THEY CANNOT TAKE A COUPLE OF APPLES AFTER CHORES ARE DONE AND GRAB THEIR CURRENT BOOK THEY ARE READING AND HEAD TO THE WOODS, MEADOW, OR THEIR OWN ROOM AND SPEND AN AFTERNOON ANY PLACE THEY CHOOSE JUST BY THE BOOK THEY ARE READING. THIS WAS GENUINELY MY FAVORIE PASTIME GROWING UP. MY DAD WAS SO INTELLIGENT AND WELL-READ AND HE BLESSED ME MIGHTILY. WHENEVER I WOULD ASK HOW TO SPELL THIS OR THAT AND HE WOULD SAY, "THERE IS THE DICTIONARY, LOOK IT UP, YOU WILL REMEMBER IT FOREVER." HE WAS SO RIGHT ON SO MANY LEVELS. SO JUST LET ME SAY THE THREE BOOKS I NAMED ARE A MUST TO HAVE IN YOUR HOME FOR YOURSELF AND ESPECIALLY YOUR CHILDREN. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN.

This is another good book to have around for teaching, or referencing words. It gives you the proper spelling and usage of the word. I purchased three different books of this sort for school. I kept them as references and also for use in home schooling.

Simplest thing you can do to increase your happiness.

I do the night portion with my wife before bed, and it has improved the communication in our relationship immensely. You know that old piece of wisdom that you should never go to bed angry with your spouse? Sharing the "How could I have made today better?" part with your wife is the easiest way to open up communication.

Game Changer

I have always been one of those people that had good intentions when starting a task, and then got lazy, forgot, etc. I wrote in a gratitude journal for over 4 months and then one day, just decided no more. It was becoming a running tally of my events for the day, not a true reflection of things I was actually grateful. This book has changed all of that for me.

I am writing down real goals for myself, and being grateful for different things every day. Sometimes, they are more broad and all encompassing "being grateful for the love and affection of family and friends", or simply "grateful for coffee in the morning". I have found my confidence being boosted from the daily affirmations, and am making huge strides in changing my attitude towards life's daily frustrations (bad drivers, laundry room hogs, irritating co-workers). Most of the time now, I don't even notice it anymore. Or I can laugh it off, be more patient, or just move onto something else.

The change in my relationships is astounding. Whether they notice or not, I don't know yet. But I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude, love, and affection for everyone in my life. It's an amazing feeling, to know how loved and cherished you are, by so many different people. I only hope that I can keep growing and developing, so these important people always know exactly how truly incredible they are to me.

Can't stick to a journal? Try this one! Bonus: It will make you a more positive person!

I am guilty of having collected dozens of journals and notebooks throughout my life, with the same results every time: excitedly writing in them for a few days (or a few weeks if I'm lucky) and then slowly forgetting about them- mostly due to the amount of time and energy it takes to keep one up.

If you're like me- this is the perfect answer! It truly takes 5 minutes to fill out the section and it is difficult to find an excuse NOT to do it each day.

After giving up for years, I was prompted by the book "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod (a great book!) to take up journaling/scribing and found this wonderful journal.

A few things I love about this journal:
1) The through explanation of the science behind the carefully chosen daily prompts
2) The excellent quotes at the top of each day- they are carefully selected and truly motivational
3) The way it is clearly divided into a morning and an evening section
4) The beautiful cover- it feels like linen/cloth and it looks high quality and expensive

The best thing about this journal is that if you follow it the way it is intended- filling it out upon waking and before going to bed everyday- it will re-center you and provide balance and positivity to your life.

Note: I like ending on a more positive note than focusing on what I didn't do well enough (even though that last question is phrased as positivity as possible), so I am considering adding my own question at the very bottom that says "What am I looking forward to tomorrow?"

BOTTOM LINE: I genuinely look forward to writing in this journal twice a day. This is a journal I really see myself completing for the entire year, for the first time in my life. This is great for people like me who have difficulties sticking to something, who would like a stepping stone to a more traditional journal, or who just want to focus on the positives in life and are looking for a tool to assist in becoming an all-around more emotionally balanced individual.

About the Author

Peter C. Blum is Professor of Philosophy and Culture at Hillsdale College, where he directs their program in Sociology and Social Thought. A graduate of Goshen College, with advanced degrees in sociology and philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, he lives in Hillsdale, Michigan with his wife, Gail. He is a member of Salem Mennonite Church near Waldron, Michigan, and is author of a number of essays relating contemporary social theory to an Anabaptist understanding of Christian discipleship.

Incredible. Nietzsche meets Simons!

Let me just state my bias: Pete is one of my best friends, and I've had the chance to see this book as it was being written. Ok, now that that's out of the way. Pete Blum is one of the finest men I know. He's as honest and open as the day is long. Don't label him, and don't try to box him into some imaginary category. Pete is his own man, and this book radiates integrity. It's a thought experiment in post-modernism and Christianity taken to a beautiful level. Enjoy all that is the mind and soul of Blum!

If you don't have any introduction to marketing at all, this book will do you a great deal of good. Otherwise, it fails to answer the basic question: what is marketing. Marketing is the complex policy making that causes your product to be more visible than competing products, more desirable than competing products and sell better than competing products. This book gives these three subjects a light going over, and is as good a place as any to start, but don't look for any answers here.
